CHELSEA came back from the death to win the Champions League title at the expense of Bayern Munich.

The Blues earned a dramatic 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory after a stunning final at the Allianz Arena.

Thomas Muller looked to have won the game with an 82nd minute header before Didier Drogba equalised two minutes before full-time.

Arjen Robben then saw his extra time penalty saved by Petr Cech before the tie went to penalties.

And it was Drogba who wrapped up a famous victory for Roberto Di Matteo’s men with the winning spot-kick in the most dramatic of endings.

Bayern had bossed possession for large periods of the match but wasted a host of gilt-edged chances to kill-off the Blues.

Robben curled an early effort into the stands and Mario Gomez glanced Franck Ribery’s cross over the bar from 10 yards out.

George Zimmerman Could Face The Death Penalty | Ghana Weekly

The State of Florida has charged George Zimmerman with murdering Trayvon Martin. But that might not be the end of his legal problems:

According to WFTV, an affliate of ABC in Orlando, Zimmerman may soon be charged with a hate crime by the FBI:

WFTV has learned charges against George Zimmerman could be getting more serious. State prosecutors said Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman, profiled and stalked 17-year-old Trayvon Martin before killing him, so the FBI is now looking into charging him with a hate crime. [...]

FBI investigators are actively questioning witnesses in the retreat at the Twin Lakes neighborhood, seeking evidence for a possible federal hate crime charge.

WFTV notes that “if Zimmerman is charged and found guilty of a federal hate crime involving murder, he could face the death penalty.” FBI officials confirm to ABC News that the investigation is ongoing but say the “hammer won’t be dropped” anytime soon.

Most of the evidence against Zimmerman has yet to be disclosed. Late yesterday, Florida prosecution delivered 67 CDs of evidence against Zimmerman to his attorney. Under Florida law, most of it should be available to the public soon.

Some people believe if Zimmerman is found guilty, life in prison seems right. But the death penalty only magnifies heinous crimes by killing again. Do you think the FBI is justified in convicting Zimmerman of a hate crime and would the death penalty be the right sentence for him?

61 Nigerians Deported From The UK | Ghana Weekly

The United Kingdom on Thursday deported 61 Nigerians, including three minors, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. The deportees were flown into Nigeria in the early hours of the day in a chartered aircraft.

Those deported include 47 males and 11 females who were received and screened at the cargo terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by the officials from the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

An immigration source, who pleaded anonymity, said they were deported for immigration-related offences. Some of the deportees who spoke with NAN alleged that most of them were sent back because their visas have expired.

A deportee, Eniola Adefuja said that her visa had expired since May and she was still in the process of renewing it when she was picked up by the police. She added that she was not allowed to pick up her personal effects before being flown to Nigeria.

Another deportee who simply identified herself as Juliet, claimed that she was also arrested by the British Immigration officer over expired documents.

“My visa expired and they said I could no longer reside in the UK; that is why I was brought back home,” she said.

[Video] Aftermath of Gadaffi’s Death – Lawless Libya | Ghana Weekly

Via Lukes Corner

Gaddafi may be gone but Libya is now a country in chaos. Rebel groups are flush with weapons and taking the law into their own hands, persecuting those thought to have been allied to Gaddafi’s regime.

Libya’s power vacuum has been filled by heavily armed rebels who still control much of the war-torn nation. Images of the sprawling refugee camps reveal the extent of the country’s destroyed infrastructure. Mohammed Swehli, a commander of one of the major Misratan Rebel Brigades, denies the widespread allegations of torture and abuse. “They’re not bandits, they’re not militia groups”, he says of the rebels. But video after video has emerged of the torture of perceived Gaddafi loyalists, most of them far too gruesome to broadcast. In some cases the brutal treatment appears to be based solely on the colour of the victim’s skin.

This report gained rare access to the prisons where thousands are being held indefinitely without charge. One former prisoner shows pictures of his injuries. “This is when they beat me with electric cables. They called me slave”, he says. With upcoming elections and new fears over a split between the country’s east and west, what does the future hold for post-revolution Libya?

Legendary Hi-Life Artist K.K Kabobo Turns To God | Ghana Weekly

If someone had told highlife artiste Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo popularly known as K.K Kabobo that he will become a Reverend Minister when he was making waves with songs like Nyatse Nyatse Girl, Running Away and Onyame Ehuwo in the 90’s, he wouldn’t have believed it.

The singer was ordained a Reverend Minister on Saturday, April 14 by Covenant Mission Bible College at Achimota where he had a three months intensive Bible study course.

Talking to Showbiz on how it all came about, the 52 year-old man and a father of nine said “there was a time I almost gave up in life, but pastors, prophets and apostles came to me saying God wants to use me to bless people so I shouldn’t disappoint God.”

According to him, although he never dreamt of it, there were times when he preached at different churches and miracles took place. “I was invited to different churches to preach and after preaching, a lot of miracles happened, I was amazed myself, from there, I knew God had something for me”, he explained.

Rev. K.K Kabobo takes exception to the fact that there are a lot of upcoming pastors who rob people of their wealth. He advises them to takes steps to have a fair knowledge of the industry before venturing into it.

Pep Guardiola’s four-year stint as Barcelona boss will come to an end at the end of the season.

Sky Sports sources revealed on Thursday night that Guardiola had informed the club of his decision to leave, and the news will be made official at an 11am press conference on Friday.

Guardiola was left to consider his future after Tuesday’s agonising elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Chelsea.
